No longer my baby

Last month, my little Jack Jack turned two! I can't believe that it has been two years already! We can't imagine how our little family would be without him. He is such a fun and happy, little guy! Here are some of the quirky things I love about him...

* He can only speak a few words but he can really whistle!

* He loves music! He will sing-a-long with the radio and I LOVE IT! His favorite songs are "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift, " I gotta feelin'" by Black Eyed Peas and "Party in U.S.A." by Miley Cyrus.

* As soon as Clay gets home from school, Jack will point at Clay's feet and demand that he takes off his Transformer lite-up shoes. Then, Jack will wear them around the house until bedtime.

And the real reason Jack will no longer be my baby...

... Did you get that? :)

bugs, grass & boys

Recently, Clayton has suddenly developed this new fear of all bugs. For a while, he couldn't even set one foot outside without being extremely paranoid that he would get attacked! It started to be a huge pain, so to show him that not all bugs were bad, I picked up a "potato bug" (as I like to call them) and showed him how they curl into balls. He was sold! He even made a little house for him in a Mason jar.

And here Jack is, immitating the way he sees his dad mow the lawn. It was really cute how he pushed the toy mower back and forth over the whole yard.

Well, I'm off to bed now that Mike is finally home from work!

Bluebonnet Boys

This weekend, we dressed the boys up in their Easter Sunday church clothes, and took some bluebonnet pictures.

They were just being so cute and sweet with each other. Giving hugs and kisses, holding hands...

But then I started to get pictures like these...

and I knew we were DONE!

Fetch

Jack has a new game that he likes to play. Here's how it goes: first, he picks up any object within reach, maybe a calculator or a stapler for example, and then hurls it at your head. There is always a huge element of surprise, which is fun. It also tests how fast those good ol' reflexes are.

Luckily, in this case it is just a ping-pong ball.

I have to mention that I've noticed Jack now all of a sudden prefers his daddy instead of his mom. He is a huge fan of his dad! He will hear a noise, think it is Mike coming home, and he will run to the garage door saying "Dadadadada". I am still a little sad that he doesn't say "Mama" yet. He came close the other day, I tried to get him to say it and he said "MmmDadada".

I'll take what I can get!

What does a puppy say?

Ask Jack that question and this is the face he'll make.

Five months old

I can't believe how fast the time is flying by.

Soon his sweet chubby cheeks will be gone

and his rolls will disappear. He won't curl up into the fetal position,

and he'll start crawling all over the place!

He's mobile!

On Tuesday, Clay came running into the kitchen were I was making dinner and exclaimed, "MOM, COME LOOK AT WHAT JACK CAN DO!" I went into the living room and found Jack on his belly and not in the same place that I left him. So I guess he knows how to roll over now!

I have started the dreaded "crying to sleep" process with him. I am pleasantly surprised at how well he is doing with it. The first night, he cried for forty minutes before he fell asleep. Pretty good, compared to the two hours that it took Clay. The next try only took 15 minutes and then 5 minutes for the next nap. Not bad at all!

And as you can see from the picture, he is constantly chewing on his hands. I won't be surprised if teeth start showing up soon!

Big Boy Jack

If you chance to meet a frown...

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't resist taking a picture of this sad face that Jack pulls right before he cries! I find his protruding lip heartbreaking and endearing at the same time.

The Giggles

Last night, Jack laughed for the first time! He has had close attempts, but during a game of peek-a-boo with Mom, Jack finally couldn't contain himself any longer! Mike was at the grocery store and missed it, and so we tried to reinact but he just wasn't amused!
