The yard

My mission this summer is to have a beautiful yard. I am not going for best on the block, or even best in the cul de sac. I don't want to get burned out for next year. So far the first step has been to get rid of the leaves from fall. Step two has been getting rid of the bushes that surrounded our house. There was pretty much thick nasty bushes around the entire perimeter of the house. It took two loads to the dump, but it was worth it. The back yard is pretty narrow so getting rid of the bushes has opened it up a bit. Next step is getting rid of the concrete curbing in the back. It breaks up pretty easily, but is still very heavy and who knows how many trips to the dump it is going to take to get rid of it. I am thinking it might take renting a heavy duty truck. Or slowly taking a chunk at a time and dropping it in my brother's yard down the street. When this is completed I will need to rent a stump grinder to get rid of the bush stumps. I also need to get some fertilizer down too. I have St. Augustine grass so it will look really good this summer especially since we have a sprinkler system. The new mower, weed eater, and hopefully backpack blower will make maintainence a breeze. I can't forget the fire ant stuff. I also want to build a nice little rock barrier around the live oak and magnolia trees in front. I might plant some flowers and stuff too, but this is going to be up to the wife. You know what they say...happy wife, happy life.

Mike,

Here is the second load to the dump...
